I've managed to ruin my own thread.
SO;
the opinions conflict, "Tynan's line" Versus the "dont's"..I can't call on it, but I'm not going to use it like that, unless the frame builder (who I've emailed) says it's OK. I reckon he wont.

I tend to think of it this way: if it's over the limit and it does break/fall out/explode in a hail of shrapnel then we get to laugh at you and it's all your own fault.
If it's within limits and the same carnage happens then it's manufacturing fault, you can sue and we are sympathetic. :) -

Warning, I've never tried this but it might work:
What you need is 1 old seatpost the same size, and a seatpost or a bit off some straight bars that are narrow enough to fit inside the new seatpost
Assuming your old seatpost is the same OD (outside dia.), cut a short section off this (say 50mm), cut a section, twice that length (100mm) off the other narrower seatpost or bars. De-grease and roughen with emery tape inside of seatpost and 50mm section, and outside of the 100mm tube.
Cover OD of the 100mm length with araldite, and slide the bits together so you end up with an extended seatpost.This should give enough support to stop the frame/post failing.
Only do this if you don't ever want to remove the extender piece again. -

Hmmmmmmmmm...
I've got a 250mm Thomson seatpost (27.2/setback version). For the correct saddle height, it would be inserted 75mm (10mm more than the post's minimum insertion).
This would place the bottom of the seatpost JUST level with the bottom of the top tube, ie. flirting dangerously with "tynan's line".
I'm between 62 and 64kg usually. Whaddya reckon? Fine and dandy, or frame abuse?
(annoyingly, the next size up in the same seatpost - 330mm - might not insert enough due to the bend in the post)

is this on your condor?
cos they have pretty thin tubing, I wouldn't risk it at all.
I actually heard back from the framebuilder and he said "it should be fine if you stay off the cream cakes" although I discovered I needed it even higher and didn't use it in the end.
75mm sounds like plenty enough, (I only had 45mm) but if the seat tube has a long collar and you're messing with Tynan's Line then that puts you in a quandry, weighing 2 stone helps, but you need to be below the line.

It's not going BELOW the line (on a new, equally thin-walled alu frame). I've emailed the distributor as well...
Chances are I'll just end up using the Thomson on my Condor (where it clears tynan's line by about 2cm), and grab the Deda metalstick for the new frame... but possibly chop off about 50mm that's superfluous, for the sake of 30g or something :)

For the record, the distributor said it's not worth the risk, even if I do spend most of the time standing up out of the saddle :D
Luckily the Condor's been relegated to track duties where I don't need such a setback position (Thomson is 16mm setback, Deda is 25mm).
Could life get any more interesting than this?
