I'm totally biased, but this dude makes nice track frames, so I guess he might be able to hook you up:

I really like the Bicycle Doctor, which is based just at the bottom of Rusholme.
Really friendly service and they know a shitload about bikes (as you'd hope from a bike shop...) one of the guys is into his track riding and another is into SS MTB, so they've got a god bit of knowledge about such stuff.
I think they've also got a sale on for full bikes, so def. worth a check.
They also do second hand stuff from time to time.
If you're on a budget, there used to be a bike stall at the student fair (every tuesday at the Academy), which sold second hand stuff for pretty cheap. Dunno if that's still going, though...

Student market is still going, but the bikes aren't up much more than a trundle up and down Oxford Road. if you're on this site its a good guess you're after a ss/fg.
Just to re-hash what everyone else has said - Harry Halls maybe has the best range of off the peg bikes ss/fg thanks to Craig's influence, and Bicycle Doctor is also good for sorting out bits and bobs.
Definitely check out http://www.ibikemcr.org.uk/timetable.htm though - the festival starts at the end of the month...

Yeah, Nasty has coloured velocity deep Vs, candy coloured grips, and I think goldtecs and Phils etc.....just what you need.
They also stock off the peg bikes like the charge plug and Lemond....worth going into just for the history though.

there is a new shop open just off tibb street in the northern 1/4, really worth having a look. the guys were the mechanics at harry hall.
craig in harry hall has been great with sorting stuff out for me and ordering in parts. really nice guy.
there is also the bicycle boutique just behind sand bar.

yep, thanks to the above posters for the positive comments about harry halls
its taken me a while to get the track stuff in, but i think we're slowly getting there... partly due to me bugging the owner about stuff, but also to the folk that have requested and patiently waited for the specialist parts to come in - without you guys i'd still be trying to flog a solitary miche chainset and a front miche hub with no axle nuts...
we have - steel + alu dolan frames, the usual plug (tank) langster, fillmore, ss tricross as stock.
we have a 54cm trek t1 which really is a nice frame -def worth upgrading the stock parts...
also genesis flyer f/s for £230, and the fbm sword for about 450-500... preorder onlynjs parts - mks pedals/straps, toshi bits, nitto bars, sugino cranks and rings etc
also - rear large flange da rear flipflop njs hubs - hidden away in the madison catalogue - for £55. one of those set me back a lot more 10 years ago - its the same price as a da small flange front.
we also have profile racing fixed gear hubs in. these are the f*cking bomb. i prefer them to phil's (for whatever thats worth)... and they come in colours...
kashimax stuff will be inbound within the next month or so
if anyone in the manchester area needs anything, stop by the store and see me - i'm here to help. if we dont have what you want, i'll do my best to source it for you
now, my 2 cents about manchester...
bikeboutique is good for cheaper repairs-jaime and paul are top guys, bike doc is a friendly store, the bikes from the academy van aint roadworthy gbh on tib street do some interesting conversions and use a lot of recycled bits... evans and ebc are the regular bike supermarkets, and decathalon in stockport are great for cheap tubes etcdont be dissapointed if there's not a load of trackstuff at the velodrome. its a bike jumble foremost - however, i will be selling a merck 55, san marco 57, mebbe a dolan kilo champion, and some other bits and pieces... anyone coming up here want dibs, holler me
ibikemcr festival
