  • Put an egg in it....Go Swedish coffee!

  • STUFF WHITE PEOPLE LIKE

    No.1: Coffee:

"There is no doubt that white people love coffee. Yes, it’s true that asians like iced coffee and people of all races enjoy it. But I promise you that the first person at your school to drink coffee was a white person. You could kind of tell they didn’t enjoy it, but they did it anyways until they liked it - like cigarettes.

White people all need Starbucks, Second Cup or Coffee Bean. They are also fond of saying “you do NOT want to see me before I get my morning coffee.” White guys will also call it anything but coffee: “rocket fuel,” “java,” “joe,” “black gold,” and so forth. It’s pretty garbage all around.

If you want to go for extra points - white people really love FAIR TRADE coffee, because paying the extra $2 means they are making a difference."

  • Check out this site - http://www.ineedcoffee.com/ I've been 'using' it for a couple of years now and it makes me glad to know some people have more of a problem with coffee than I do.

Cafetiere is the way to go for me, I love a bit of grit in my mug.
I never got into the stove top thing. A bit worried about the aluminium-hair-turning-green-alzheimers kind of thing. Can you get stove top jobs made of anything else less dangerous?

  • @ChrisNW - you can get steel ones, but I reasoned that they'd take longer to heat up...?

The documented positive effects of caffeine on long term neurological health probably outweigh the use of aluminium in this context (unless you regularly rough up the surface to get aluminium filings in your brew. Time will tell I suppose.

  • Hmmm - I read somewhere that stove-tops were the worst way to make espresso. Apparently the water is too hot, gets repeatedly drawn through the coffee and makes it taste burnt. I've never used one though!

I hate to admit it, but my g/f and I recently bought a Nespresso machine. I wanted a traditional one but my other half hates the mess they make. We are really impressed with the coffee, but hate the whole marketing/lifestyle thing they are trying to sell.

We are aware of Nestle's bad reputation... but if we wanted to boycott everything bad, we'd have to go and live in the mountains and wear sacks, and grow our own food!

May get one of these too - they seem to get rave reviews:

You're going to trust your coffee making to a Frisbee maker?
Nah- its the arab way for me:
cardamom and sugar in a pot like this:
I like my Ahweh either Hilweh(sweet) or Mazbuta (regular)- i.e. with a whole lot of sugar!

  • heres one for all you coffee nerds, the ability to make a decent expresso while out on a ride. Click

  • scott not scot OK....own up....who made the voodoo cup of tea doll? ...I've accidentally kicked two full cups of tea across the bedroom in the past few hours....ggrrr....what a waste...:(

I blame those evil coffee drinkers jealous of our superior health, looks, style, intelligence and beverage choice...

  • it's definitely all about tea. used to drink loads of coffee but now can't stand the stuff. Darjeeling is the brew of choice at the mo.

  • Darjeeling, Assam, English Breakfast plus of course rooibos vanilla. Hmmm, time for a brew. No poncy life style equipment choices, in fact the only issue is finding a tea pot that doesn't dribble.

  • on the herbal tip - Hibiscus Tea rocks - can't find anywhere in London that sells it though.

  • loose tea - ceylon BOPF. mmmm, tasty.

  • +1 Monmouth, double espresso 1 quid cant fight that shit!

Cardamon in coffee is great. It's supposed to improve your memory function as well; if I've remembered correctly :S

  • Ever tried Russian Carravan tea? Beautiful. Imagine a cross between Lapsang and Earl Grey. If anyone is around Hackney area you can come round for a cuppa!

I was just about to put out a shout for Smokey Grey - A lapsang souchong with Bergamot, a la Earl Grey. You can get in Greenwich Market and it rocks.

Also, bombadil, I think you can get Hibiscus tea in Alara Health food on Marchmont Street, Bloomsbury.

  • Is anyone into the OG Red Label Nescafe from back in the day? Like the old school freeze dried stuff?

I know it's not a high brow mocha choca locka licka café style drink but it does the job.

    Anyone down?

  • Have I mentioned Twinning Everyday (yellow box) is the BEST everyday tea. 100% extra free on packs at the mo.

  • pg.
    or yorkshire gold.

  • Living in Stoke Newington makes is pretty simple to keep up with my addiction to Turkish coffee

  • good hot strong sweet milky chai with lots of ginger

  • tea then its sainsbury kenyan - strong without being stewed

  • Tea should only be served from a pot. Therefore I do not drink it often.

I have 1 decent coffee in the morning then peppermint for the rest of the day.

Stuff white people like can kiss my arse - what a hater.
