Taggers are scum. Seriously. Not proper graf writers artists. Unfortunately the cops don't make that distinction.
$500 reward for grassing on your kids, that's sick though.

I disagree entirely. A tag is just as much graffiti 'art' as much as a 10ft high wild style piece, just a different form. It takes years to form a really awesome distinct handstyle. -

^^ my thoughts exactly.
writers write on stuff. I just cant stand the 'aerosol artists' who have worked out how to piece, but their handstyle looks like my nans.

Have you ever had to clean off some neanderthal's 3 foot tall scribblings in full knowledge that they'll just do it again?

My wife caught the 15 yr old kid down the road tagging our garage door. He was mortified. Later on, we heard him desperately trying to scrub it off, as he thought we were going to tell his parents. We didn't, but let him sweat it out.

If I had a garage and it was tagged I would not bother repainting it if it was tagged because it would be a waste effort. However I would not want it tagged, it's my door. Most tagging I see (whether this is the majority of tagging which goes on or just the post obvious to a passer by) is on private property of who chances are does not want it, or on public property such as in railway stations, which admittedly could do with some art in places end up just looking shit in most part of the station like on toilet doors e.t.c.

tagging is the issue, cos thats all joe public sees. Fact is there needs to be more public places that graffiti is tolerated in. This in turn causes a reduction overall in the surrounding area, and a slight increace in the immediate area.
Imagine, all these basketball courts all round my way had 4 foot ply panels all the way round, and the walls painted. It would be contained, and give the 'neanderthals' somewhere to go.
Instead the councils pay me to do gaffiti workshops, show the kids how to do it properly.. and they have no where to go do it. Let alone spend the afternoon doing something decent. So they will go nick a tin of paint and write on everything.

Legal graffiti walls are fun and your right there needs to be more. But graffiti is one of those things, in my eyes anyway which is so interesting and exciting cause its illegal. I know personally id rather see a 2min throw up on a rooftop or trackside than a piece which was done over a few hours in an basketball court.

You love banksey you have his pictures plastered all over your bedroom wall!

I'm not a big fan of graffiti, unless it's penises, the word 'fuck' or comical cigars and moustaches, then it's okay by me.

heh. it was to prove a point!
People stating they hate tags, but like the colourful stuff or banksy is all to common. In fact every session i do, the worker/parents say the same thing.
They like it because they can relate to it and understand the artists point.
People are scared by what they dont understand and chances are you will never understand it, so continue to hate.
Even tagging has good and bad. To me spotting the diference is as easy as it is to everyone on here spotting the difference between a meticlously restored hetchins with fancy lugs, and the london langster.

The day i own a piece of banksys 'art' is the day i wear lycra on my commute.
not gonna happen.
The mans clever, and good at what he does. But the only thing graffiti like about his work is the fact he uses spray paint and its illegal.
Wow you've got to laugh I can't belive someone thought it was a good idea to create this, the government really don't think sometimes. anyway enjoy
