Which Cheap Fixed Is Best?

Posted on
  • I think ive found the 3 cheapest options for a new fixed bike on the market, just wondering which you might advise me to go for?
At the moment im thinking the Fuji Track looks the best bet.

    Montana Track Bike TRK AL1 2008 £264.95

    Fuji Track £304.95

SE Bikes 700c Lager Single Speed £350.00

  • use search function. search for 'off the peg' bikes. you shall find your answer.

  • go with the montana. that shit is hot

    I did .. it didn't

go with the montana. that shit is hot

im thinking your description might only be apt in part.

  • Those Montanas are truly horrendous.

The Fuji pictured is the 07 model and OOS everywhere in 'normal' sizes - 08's (non-quill stem) are due mid March they say...

  • Please for the sake of all that is holy do NOT buy the Montana!

  • The Montana's the bomb, everyone knows. We'd all rock them if we thought we had the steez.

  • obviously we really do have to spell out the irony here, then!

whats that then? and what does it mean to me apart from maybe being able to pickup a 07 model cheap

  • It means Out of Stock, so you won't be able to get one, unfortunately. And with the new ones not coming through until mid March, you'll have to wait... Nice bikes, though

The SE looks pretty good for the money, but PLEASE stay away from that Montana, it's truly horrible

Building your own up is more satisfying, but I understand the attraction of OTP...

    Good luck!

  • tomasito go with the montana. that shit is hot
I think you mean is hot shit ;-)

  • cross post spam alert!

  • ooo looks like a perfect opportunity to learn how to poll. OTP SSB thread.

  • i'd go bianchi pista

  • Just saw one of these in my LBS. Shocking. The cheek to even ask £200.

  • Sweet track ends.

  • ADVICE TO NEWBIES ASKING MUCH THE SAME.

What is important to you in your choice, apart from price?

    Looks?

    Reliability?

    Commuting comfort?

    Track ability?

They're a few bikes under £300. Some are halfway reasonable, but the best for the price is the quite superior Specialized Tricross from Pearson's. Its on sale for £275 If the looks don't grab you, then maybe check out the SE Lager; more colourful, but far less worthy.

Whatever your choice, stay away from the Montana. Hitting a pothole at 10 mph just might be enough to make that bike a write-off.

However, if you ask questions on here, for which there are already a multitude of answers, its more than likely you will be sent to search for the invisible goose.

  • Ash, check the date!

  • Too late!

    Ha ha ha ha.

I amended the advice. Might still help some poor lost soul.

    Cheers mucka.

Before anybody "Fixes" that....yes, its MUCKA.

    :))
