Imagine if someone got killed. Imagine someone got hurt and sued.
Mike D estimated to a NY Times reporter that over 200 people would take part this year. That is a lot of people.
I think they did the right thing.
Alleycats are cool and everything, but it's not worth risking another death, and more negative publicity.

I agree with Bill. Large scale, brakeless only alley cats are a recipe for trouble and people getting hurt. Fine when it's messengers who are used to it and where there aren't many people, but MT was massive last year. I remember reading about people preparing for it on some US forums and there were people who weren't very experienced at riding brakeless who were planning to race. Not good.

200! Bugger me that wpu;d end up more like C.M! I don't know anything about it much to comment but 200 people in one race sounds like a nightmear to a situation anyhow.

i dont know if l200 people are goung ot turn up then stager the start and give people numbers and a time, then let the top 10 racesrs do a mini course for frist... or is all this to organized for an ally cat?

And closed roads, and paramedics, and safety equipment, and have gone through training for riding in tight packs,... the list goes on.I'll not be racing at the monopoly ride... just participating. Just looking forward to the fun, with as little risk as possible because I'm a wuss.
