  • I find him a bit rich though, nice for the first few bites but then just gets sickly

  • i dont see the point to be honest when you can get a train from paddington

  • Train the money costs it does

  • Well I feel like a completely lazy fecker now - I drove there and back the weekend before last!
    Did you do it fixed?
Right I'm going out for a ride ( to meet a mate for dinner and beer! ;-) )

  • pasta the night before
toast and marmalade in the morning
    carry light stuff
    find MacDonald if you bonk
    Got it

Don't forget coffee in the morning (if you do caffeine). It doubles your body's ability to metabolize fat ie. it's the ultimate legal endurance-oriented perfomance enhancing substance available.

I think my genealogy would make me more of a ginger cake than a malt loaf.

  • my little Italian friend

  • ^ couldn't live without it :)

I am a staunch user of Lavazza Rosso because:

    i) It's a robusta/arabica blend, therefore less acidic, therefore less likely to fuck up my soya milk.
ii) It's a robusta/arabica blend, and robusta has a higher caffeine content.

I'm so ASD, that I actually had to cut out a section of the outer wrapper from a Lavazza Rosso twinpack, in order to stick it on the coffee tin I've been reusing that was originally a different blend. Just...couldn't...deal...with...anomaly :S

  • LOL... I thought I was bad

    thank you for the recommendation

i'll give the soya milk a miss, eh..;)

  • Is that the pre-ground stuff BMMF? I've got one of those Bialetti 'cino makers.

  • Yeah, I haven't progressed to grinding my own beans or fancy schmancy electric coffee makers yet.

Is that the one that looks like a cow or sumfink?

Do Bialetti make bike frames. They fucking should. Bet it would be a quality piece of alu tubing.

  • Bmmf, what's asd?

  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder

  • Ahhh. Ta.

  • BringMeMyFix Yeah, I haven't progressed to grinding my own beans or fancy schmancy electric coffee makers yet.

Nah, I couldn't bring myself to get the cow one. Mal would've loved it.
It does an ok job but it's nothing like a proper bean2cup job with machine and operator in perfect harmony :)

  • robusta makes me crap

eat something every half hour. drink every 20 mins, from the beginning.

  • Caffeine makes you crap. It just does that.

  • hippy Caffeine makes you crap. It just does that.

I like a full evacuation before most rides, but it's an imperative for hillclimbing.

  • Colonic irrigation. No wonder you go up hills so fast ;)

  • I have a helium-filled camelbak under my jersey.

  • Hippy - I did that Willesden RR last week...what group did you ride in? I started in the fast group but couldn't hang on past 50km or so...the pace was pretty blistering and a guy from my club just kept cranking things up...b*stard.

After getting dropped, I then got lost but managed to find some others from the medium group and made it back in one piece. Was back in the scout hut around 1.15pm. Are you up for any of the others?

  • i did it singlespeed, not fixed. and i got the train back, which felt like it somewhat undermined all my efforts. i took a big pot of pasta and a fair bit of flapjack. because my frame is a touring frame it has 2 bottle bosses and rear rack braze ons, so I put my (minimal) baggage on that.

and i stopped for coffee twice on the way as well as for 2 x lunch breaks and some quick stretching breaks. coffee is important.

it was slower than i had wanted to go though.

  • t.o you inspired me

I just got back from Paris Chartres, 100km, just over sixty miles, hills and headwinds the whole way,

tough going in places as I am running 80 gear inches.

The highlight was visting Sheldon's former home at Chevreuse

The lowlight being the nylon thread in my cycle shorts chaffing at my delicates

They got so uncomfortable that I did most of that distance in jeans with nothing underneath

To go further I need decent shorts and a lower gear

    route

having done 60 odd miles today 115 sounds a bit insane ;)

I stuck with the front bunch most of the way and then left them behind when they stopped for a piss. Unless people bailed straight away, it looked like I was in the first 10 riders back. 1:07pm I think my time was.

  • Waking this tread to life again!
Im riding London -> Bristol -> London in march. I going there for Bespoked Bristol. And I thought a fun think could be to ride from London to Bristol and back.

How is the weather back there around march/april? Need to know to make sure I'll bring the right type of clothing with me.. Im planning on doing it in one day. But I will not be in any kind of hurry. Planning on spending a week or so in UK. Therefor I would really appreciate if you could give me some tips of where to spend a night at on my way.

Hopefully I'll see someone form here at Bespoked.

    / Frank
