thing is,
skating, bmxing, bikes, dwarf throwing and punk can be enjoyed by everyone (apart from maybe the dwarves) mostly.
snowboarding is pretty elitist, for those with a large disposable income..
even going to milton keynes indoor slope and hiring the gear would be quite pricey every weekend.
middle class, gays on trays.
that always winds up my snowboarding mates (all of whom work in the design/media industry)
-
• #65
i think it really depends on where you grow up... with me having mtns 30-50 mins out my back door and knowing how to get cheep lift passes made me able to do it
-
• #66

RPM
middle class, gays on trays.
hehe!
so does mrsmith snowboard?! -
• #69
rpm., you can snowboard pretty easily/cheaply if you do seasons, as in you work as a lift atendant or in a hotel/chalet for 4 months and get to ski every other day as well as getting paid, a liftpass and ski hire for free.
-
• #70
That's the thing, snowboarding never used to be expensive (grumble, grumble)...
hire an apartment, fill it with your mates, get 'creative' with buying lift tickets and you can do it for bugger all.
And joel's right - work your way and anyone can do it. It's when you go on a week's holiday that it gets expensive. And where's the fun in just buying something? It's when you earn it that it is the most fun.
Point taken though, RPM.

d.ride bikes anyway?
-
• #73
not for about 7 years before getting a road bike and making it into a single-speed, nope :) Does learning to ride a bike count for d?
-
• #74
actually no wait, brain not thinking. obviously i rode bikes before joining the forum, but isn;t d a bit of a no brainer in that case? I joined the forum about 2 months after getting my single-speed.
-
• #75
I didn't make the questions.
but yes, I doubt many people wouldn't be d.
yeah we do other shit to make up for it though,
Im just embarrassed some times, used to work for nitro/allian/technine/nikita/capita back home
