Also - What tools do I need to tighten this bad boy up? Its got some funky looking holes / bits on it..
Anyone got the tools to borrow for the price of a pint? :)Ohhh! And, where do I find some bolts for my Strada so I can get rid of the 2nd ring?

Yep, you'll need a big feck off Campag spanner for the drive side cup, a pin spanner for the non-drive, and a lockring tool for the, er, lockring. But is your bike French threaded? ** As this BB is unfortunately.
If it doesn't match the bike just resell it on eBay is it looks mint. Although it might not generate a lot of interest being French threaded.
** EDIT just realised it's a Cinelli frame, so the BB will definitely not fit.

Rob M Ok so, not a problem, but my frame has some holes in the bottom. See pics and they might help :)
Hole's no problem, some folk even drill a little hole in the bottom of the BB shell when they get a new frame, it helps drain any water that gets into the frame.
Cover the spindle with plenty of grease.

Nothing more exotic than a socket wrench of some kind, standard big bolt (hex head) with washer on goes through the square hole in your cranks and threads into the spindle.
EDIT: my comments where aimed at the cranks - not the BB.

As for the holes in the frame, you'd normally use a plastic sleeve on a non-sealed Campag BB to protect the bearings. You can usually get them from eBay for not a lot of cash. Later Campag BB cups are rifled to help shred any water that has got inside.

I tried screwing them in by hand, one side went in around 10 turns, then got stuck, the other side got about half a turn and got stuck... Cry!
I presume if they did fit they would screw in most of the way without too much problem?So, whats this bad boy worth? Any one want it :)

It's a cinelli BB shell so probably Italian threaded. You can check by measuring the width of the shell - 68mm is English, 70mm is Italian. I can't remember the measurements for french thread so you might want to double check them, although I'd say it's really unlikley that the BB shell is french threaded.

French is also 68mm. If they're only going in a few turns then the BB definitely doesn't match the frame!
It's 99.99% certain that it'll be an Italian threaded frame.

Interesting, I measured it a while back and pretty sure it was 68mm.. English?

I'm sure it's Italian, as French threads work the same as Italian (i.e. the cups on both are right hand threaded).

I measured this today, and its 68mm wide. Does this mean it isn't Italian?

Is the thread on the drive side reverse (or left handed) threaded?? If so it would be English.
That's why the non-drive went in half the cup before the threads binded, and why the drive side wouldn't go in at all, as the BB isn't reverse threaded while the frame is.
Haven't you got the BB that originally came with the frame??

Rob you have French threaded bottom bracket cups .. if you look on the end they have 35 x 1 stamped in them which means although the shell width is 68mm the threads per inch are all wrong 25.4 French 24 English / Italian and also both cups are right hand threaded as per Italian. I am going to suggest you need an English bottom bracket (don't sue me if I'm wrong!) based on the fact one side would screw in a few turns before the threads jamed and the other side wouldn't start - it should have started and screwed in the same amount of turns if it was an Italian threaded shell in your frame. Even though it's a Cenelli lug the frame is english by Dave Marsh ..

Is it unusual to get an old cinelli with an english BB?
Hi Guys,
I recently had my frame sprayed.. and am now on the road to getting the rest of the bits sorted.
So, I got a Campag Strada crank on ebay, which to my surprise came with a nice Campag BB, with loose bearings. £41 inc postage, and pretty much perfect!
Ok so, not a problem, but my frame has some holes in the bottom. See pics and they might help :)
