  • skitching. oh dear. Someone died on Park Lane last week, I heard.

(Surely this is a wind up!? Like matching chain man's alter alter ego.)

  • Hubjub rules.

  • so im looking at hubs

    http://www.on-one-shop.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Rear_231.html

seems to be a bewildering amount of a different options.. ive no idea what I might need.

I need yours helps still further.

  • What is the rear spacing on your frame - 120mm / 126mm / 135mm / other?
    Is it steel / aluminium?
    I feel used. :-(

  • Your either used or your useless - Kayne West 2008

no idea.. ill get the tape measure out tonight.

  • Mr. West got fixed without my help - good luck! ;-)

(Original images from Complex and Aldone on Flickr.)

  • Hey thats how I ride too

here is the complete specs for the bike im converting, not sure if you can find the rear frame spacing from it

    http://www.epinions.com/bicycles_2003_KHS_Flite_300

    its a 56cm frame,

  • dropouts... :(

  • what are dropouts?

    http://www.machinehead-software.co.uk/bike/chain_length/bicycle_frame_dropouts.html

nevermind.. this is means it can't be made into a fixie?

  • there are ways round it, but they're expensive + stressful = not worth it for first fixed

  • and i'd advise you to avoid the term 'fixie' on here

  • can someone explain why this makes it a problem?

  • which, saying "fixie" or having the wrong type of dropout?

  • complience can someone explain why this makes it a problem?

It looks like your frame has vertical rear drop outs which will mean you can't tension your change by moving the wheel backwards or forwards. The easiest solution is to buy a White Industries Eno hub which has an eccentric axle which allows tensioning in the drop outs.

Added: which means lots of €$£ dorras as they are not cheap.

  • I would just sell your current bike and buy a complete set up of ebay, Fixed gear London or one of the numerous ones posted on this very forum. It will save a lot of time and hassle. Also look into the 2007 model bikes that may be going cheap.

  • Fixie.

  • @compliance

    1. where exactly anywhere near hyde park corner could you reasonably be going slower then traffic, as to make skitching at all usefull?
    2. your drop outs are fusked get a better frame, or a whitei ndrustries eno hub
    3. fixie does it not just feel like vomit in your mouth?
  • Fixie.

See that Chris, you're surrounded by Fixies. :)

  • hippy you want any american candy im making a shoping list (this is not a fat joke)

  • chris crash hippy you want any american candy im making a shoping list (this is not a fat joke)

I appreciate you not turning this into Battlestar Fattatica. To be honest I don't think I've ever eaten any US sweets. The only thing I can think of is Jelly Belly jelly beans.. I'd buy a shitload of them off ya! :)

  • right will put them on the list then.

  • Thanks for all your help guys, I now more sure than never im gonna get myself fixed.

however seems clear the KHS300 is not the way to go.

anyone got any tips where i can pickup a good one.. at a reasonable price.

either a full build.. or a frame to get me started?

    and isnt nicked?

  • im looking at a SUROSA 7005 TRACK FRAME, what is reconned?

    http://www.surosa.biz/index1.html
