Wheels Fixed for Road Frame?

Posted on
  • Hello,

Ok, so I've just had my nice old frame sprayed up, and now I need some wheels. (Black Deep V's if anyone has?)
The frame I used was an old road frame, the rear axle width is 128mm. So, how do I get decent wheels for it?
Is it just the axle that needs to be wider with some spacers to keep the cog in place? Can I just buy any old track wheel or what?
I've emailed Kiwi cycles about getting a set, but no reply so far (3 days ago)... Bah.

    Cheers,
    Rob.

  • Probably 126mm hub should be right, or 130. Lots of hubs can be made to fit your bike pretty easily. You can buy wheels already built in lots of London shops, or have them built by someone here if you ask nicely and tell them look lovely in a mankini.

  • hehe. for a road conversion i'd just squeeze in the rear and use 120mm.

  • Hmm..

Well I've been looking at the Formula flip/ flop hubs laced to XR300 deep V rims on the Kiwi site. £140.
It just doesn't say what size hub they have. Whats standard track size, 120?

    Tar,
    Rob.

  • Formula will fit 128mm. They have very long axles.

  • stndard track is 120mm
