    A nano level scaffold construction with the scaffold bearing in mind the different stresses at various points in the frame. There are no photos of carbon nano tubes.

    Hmmm... this:

    Except you've got to imagine that as being thinner than you'd think possible yet stronger and stiffer than any frame you've ridden.

    That the photo is a simulation of carbon nano tubes gives you an idea of scale... that's sub-millimetre stuff there. I would image that on a bike they'd use more than necessary to give a more traditional bulk by using three tubes to create a single triangular tube when wrapped with carbon. I'd imagine that they'd do this for aesthetics and to prevent racers from decapitating each other in high speed crashes.

    I was playing with carbon nanotubes today in fact. Can't see them scaling to bike sizes any time in the near future though, the ones I was using were about 1um in length :D
