I went into Evans yesterday to collect my new bike. Its a bike to work deal.
I had requested both the 08 Langster and the 08 Bachelor. Aluminium and compact were my preferences. I have had a Langster in the past and as its for commuting/training not Keirin or going for the world hour record I don't need old skool track geometry.
Anyway I digress, having seen the Bachelor up close all I can say is it looks........ unrefined which is being diplomatic. The geometry is wild, the frames ugly imo, of course this is subjective! The stand over height on the 56cm is huge, its like a farmers gate. Shame really as
the colour is excellent and the graphics understated. Its a nice bike to look at just not a nice frame to look at imo.Its a mix match of component's too with snide seat pin, good pedals, snide stem, nice saddle. Kind of disappointing tbh because I really wanted to like it but the frame is ugly imo and far top top is far too high.
I got the 08 Langster which has kind of retro decals giving it a look that appealed to me and as I mentioned before, as I have had one in the past the fit/look suits me.
However if I was buying another otp it would be the Felt Dispatch.

If standover is an issue, did you try a size down?
-
• #7
Size down was way too small. I have 34 inch, leg long torso, 5'11. I need a 55cm top tube the 54 Pinnacle has a 53cm t/t. The much maligned Langster in 56cm form fits.

You're about the same size (fuck off dogsballs) as me and yeah 53cm would be too small. I get away with a 54cm+80mm stem in town. Well, I did before being forced onto the Twatster.

Hippy not being funny but your twatster is awesome. Shouldn't it be renamed the cnutster?
-
• #10
'hippy' Out of interest. What size is your Langster?
-
• #11
Yes, it is the Cnutster(tm) now. It's the 54cm, with an effective TT length nearing 55cm. I run it with a flipped (up) 120mm stem.

Thats small eh? Different strokes for different folks and all that. Its all down to preference I suppose. Compact geometry means I could ride your 54cm and in turn you could ride my 56cm. I take it you prefer a smaller frame. Fair enough.

he likes smaller bikes, they make him look bigger

I am a bit shorter than you and riding around town I'm usually more upright than on the road proper.
I guess for commuting I do seem to go for smaller bikes - makes them that much easier to chuck around/throw leg over/etc.
I'm only riding it 40k/day so fit is much less important than my roadies.
And what RPM said.. drivers are less inclined to argue with a gorilla.. -

40K a day haha! that's more than I do in a month! hangs head in shame I live in Glasgow so that's my excuse, the weather is truly shite here. Its enough to give you the arsehole.
What size are your other road bikes hippy?

S-Works Tarmac: 56
Ribble Audax: 56 (58 TT = too long)
Soma Rush: 55
Raleigh Track: 56 (54 TT)
I seen this mentioned a while ago, just found pictures. It is just a Langster by the looks of it but if anyone has friends in Evans you would prob get this for a song.
