Something similar happened to me about 4 weeks ago.
I was riding pretty fast through traffic and this red van beeped at me for no apparent reason. I shouted "fuck off" and immediately realised my mistake when he blared his siren. It was a police van and I hadn't recognised it cos it was red and they're usually white and it was a split-second thing etc. Anyway so he pulls over and gets out, as do his two partners, both of whom are carrying assault rifles. I've never seen a cop so angry, although he didn't fine me. Randomly, half-way through, a tramp woman came up and said, "are you going to arrest him? I'd arrest him. I'd do him" which was awkward.
nb landed a £30 fine day before yesterday for running a big red at north end of London bridge yesterday, also...
