Happy endings! Glad to hear you got the whip back and you're OK... My girl's banned me from going out on my regular drunken 3am rides... I wiped out quite spectacularly on Friday night even tho' I was the only person on the bloody road! :)

what a feel good story this turned out to be. good to hear you (+bike) got through this ok. i admire that you've now realised you shouldnt drink yourself blind for the sake of your kid but dont be so hard on yourself mate, drunk or not, no one deserves to get knocked off the bike. it's those little cnts that are fcked up not you.
drink but drink moderately as the bottle says. but if you really want to give it up, dont worry mate, sober is to drinking as fixed is to cycling :)
31trum's lucky westside's not as rough ;)

Good end to the story. I came to the same conclusion as you about drinking heavily and cycling after a few too many bad things happening to me while drunk on a bike (hitting cars, attempting to run away, having to explain all of the above to the 5-0). Getting blind drunk and riding isn't really good, but it still doesn't mean that there's any excuse for the little shits to attack you.

Jon, I've only just read this thread - what a roller coaster. So chuffed you got the bike back and it seems that the worst bruises are on your drinking ego.
Get well soon and live to fight another day.
When I was halfway through the thread I was thinking "If some guy who's bought that bike at Brick Lane brings it to Polo there'll be a death on our hands." Gald it all came good in the end.

Ma3k got his back, I got mine back, there are good people out there, wonderful stuff.
weird that you feel like you deserved it - what you do to yourself doesnt have anything to do with a bunch of fuckers being cunts. glad youre in reasonable shape though, and not too fussed about the loss of some of your stuff (it is just stuff). and nice one for Dalston Mark and his missus. beers all round for those chaps/chappettes!
