  • Was going to fit dirt harrys to the fixed, but the change of frame has brought with it a minor change of colour scheme. Lots of caliper levers out there like the harrys with silver lever on black bracket, I may just decide to strip and polish, but can anyone point to nice silver levers? Lust after Paul Loves, but £££ ouch.

  • I saw some on ebay (think they might have been tektro) that were like dirty harrys, but all silver.
Think they were cheap enough, and the quality looked decent.

  • gold finger

  • Chris, do they do the gold fingers just in silver? All I have found or seen are gold/black, silver/black or black/black?
    Cheers.

  • oddyssey do a nice silver 2 finger lever.

  • its called the odyssey mono lever and is avail in chrome and cost around £12.99 .

  • bigben Chris, do they do the gold fingers just in silver? All I have found or seen are gold/black, silver/black or black/black?
    Cheers.

i thought you where after sliver/ black... i dont know of a straight sliver...

i fancy a gold one for my current build unless any one can point me towards a blue/black 1 or 2 finger lever.

  • I have these....

just be warned that if you order them from this shop don't be surprised if you don't get them for 3 weeks, which is how long it took to get mine.
I have now switched the brake cable to be on the other (correct) side of the lever :)

  • Just go crazy and get a pink one. :D

  • that's the side it's supposed to be on? ahhhh of course, that makes way more sense... but doesn't the cable get in the way?

i was looking for a picture of these in silver to stick up on here. mine has a black 'body'.

they aren't all that stiff though.

  • guffer its called the odyssey mono lever and is avail in chrome and cost around £12.99 .

Cheers for that seems a def possibility.

  • I really like the Specalized ones - they have a good shape and use a bolted pivot (not rivetted) so easy to strip and adjust. Find they have a better feel than the Cane Creek ones. This pic shows two - obviously not run like, it was done to show the advantage of using a shimmed 31.8 (OS) lever with a 26.4 Cinelli size bar (- lever can go right up to the stem leaving much more hand room on the tops:

  • do they make them in shiny, or did you do that

  • No, they are chemically stripped and polished.

  • I like those... I got a goldfinger, but it's a bit lumpy

  • Max No, they are chemically stripped and polished.

what stripper did you use? i want to do some thing like that for my girls bike, give her a good strong break lever, but make it sliver and shiny

  • Max No, they are chemically stripped and polished.

Ah, bugger, that explains why I couldn't find any. I'm guessing caustic soda and lots of polishing?
Has anyone ever tried striping dirty harrys? The mounts seems coated, I think its either thick paint or palstic.

  • Most modern stuff whether it is black or even silver is anodized which cannot be polished - you need to strip the anodizing off first to get to the bare aluminium. A strong alkali like caustic soda is used to dissolve the anodizing. Take care though - nasty stuff, protect your eyes especially.

For polishing a proper bench polisher is obviously easier but you can do it by hand - eBay search for 'Belgom Alu'.

Spec' levers like many bike bits are shot-peened too which makes it a bit more faff to cut back and get an even shine.

  • odyssey mono lever comes in 3 lever styles too. trigger, 2 finger, small (the nice one).

Also neat but with some black to polish off is are the profile unbranded levers. This place sell them individually and I'm probably going to give them a call tomorrow for one.

  • This is how a Paul lever looks polished

  • asm Just go crazy and get a pink one. :D

did someone mention my bad ass out of focus puppies??

Not as nice as the paul above... but close :P

  • odyssey mono levers in chrome you say, i've looked high and low online, no luck.

any places you can recommend to try?

EDIT: looks like the two finger version, not sure if you wanted the small.

  • Got one of these for sale, home polished....

    Right hander.

  • Jol, I need that lever... I'll take it if OP or subsequent dibbers don't want it...
I've also got an unused Paul Comp lever, anyone interested?
    edit: I need a LH one... :(
