looking forward to hearing the answers to this one. my understanding is that the LCC one is the best, too - about the same amount of money as elsewhere, but they're used to dealing with cyclists and so actually help. also, there's bonuses like 3rd party insurance, health insurance, and so on (or, maybe that's just if you join LCC). you get a further bit of money off if you also say that your bike is marked in someway: i usually indicate that it is, and that it's 'POSTCODE' is stamped on it. gets me another 5% off, anyways.
that said, i haven't got insurance: i spent the money (60-odd quid) on another, good lock at the time. now, i don't leave my bike outside without locks for very long, and certainly not overnight. i have a bit more cash now, tho, and thinking of getting insurance too....
