On programme on BBC2 last year, Louis Theroux was speaking to a senior figure in this organization who basically said that the only reason why he doesn't kill people is because he will go to hell if he does.

Pretty shocking. In my philosophy tutorials at my uni (as an ancillary course) I've come across a couple of people who think along similar lines, e.g. I don't do certain things because I'll get caught/go to hell rather than another system ethics.

She was actually quite articulate and logically coherent, certainly more so than some more moderate theists I have had the pleasure of talking to, kind of like talking to a Nazi Calvinist. Of course her views were extreme and absolute but she didn't ever let her side down with her arguments logically, unlike the majority of theist apologists, and yes, apparently I am a fag enabler !
