+1, Coming down Hardman St in Liverpool at pace. Felt the lace beginning to coil up but couldn't stop in time. Ripped an old converse in two and then fell gracefully* to the floor.Relatedly, anyone new to toe clips/clipless ever fail to disengage in time at the lights and fall humorously to the floor?
- ok, ok. fell like an awkward old pillock.

i did that, first day clipless and i pulled up to a pick up with a really cute receptionist and a big window, stop in front of the window, cant unclip and fall over like an idiot.
"hard day?" she says.... yeah.

same happened to me on caledonian road. tightened up my show so hard i though it was going to rupture my foot. luckily it just ripped the lace out and ruined my shoe. it was so embarrassing that it was actually quite funny. sometimes i think of it and it makes me smile.

wYs cos my left one decided to wrap itself around the pedal so much i took a rather slow comical fall. my trainer was so tight i couldnt get the sodding thing off, and was kind of stuck hahah.
Layed there for a min or so thinking how tf do i get this off, few ppl thought i had an accident and came to help. i was just laughing pointing at my shoe.
Nice girl helped me up nd i walked the bike backwards, fell over again for good measure and got the shoe off. Tucked my laces in and off i went.
Funny morning, and glad it was on buxton st not city road.
Sorry to hear that, that happened to me last week. The sudden feeling of your shoe becoming nice and tight, and then get's a little too tight. Managed to do and jump into a parked car and untie myself to from my bike.

the mini rear mech cable guide on my conversion tore my show in half at the ankle, but when ross borrowed that bike it took his whole shoe off as he was flying along the A40... file everything down, tuck everything in. happy birthday noah!

What are those Nikes?
Stans would be terrible for clips/straps as the velcro bumps would catch.

yep I bought a 'winter/training' bike from sjs, me first bike, its got one of those deraillieur cable guides, even though its got track ends. Duh. i really must hack it off.
JOL they're called Okhwan. Or Okwhan. Or Okwahn. Stupid name. you can get em in shiny black or shiny brown for £40 at some website in aberbloodydeen. Mine came in one day! Or nice brown leather ones what are a bit tastier at foot patrol for £££ right now. There's also the old colours around if you look hard enough, I think that mad shop on Beffnawl Gween Woad has some in black with red laces, ask nicely cos they'll be hiding. Haggwle.

Surely asking for trouble!
-
• #47
You do them the other way so the laces are on the 'outside'. Course real cyclists don't have laces. ;)

Tuck em in, just ruined a lovely pair of vans on my way home. laces got caught, felt my shoe start to tighten then the laces ripped apart 3 of the eyelets!! Rubbish!!

Laces? huck too!
No, no, no.
Stan Smiths. Are. Not. Cool.
Mostly.
I think.
Oh, fashion fucks with my head.
Am I cool? Am I uncool enough that wearing Stan Smiths would be cool?
How can I be cooler?
Why won't the cool kids be nice to me mummy, WHY?!
