They look good but surely they will break...

  • I saw these today on FGgallery and I was wondering if anyone has seen anyone actually riding with this little spokes, surely at the first pothole/bump they would break...

  • My Roadie flatmate has some similar Campag wheels like that, and they haven't broken yet.

  • I've ridden 20-spoke on the front for years and never had a problem...

  • I rode some 16 spoke Gipiemme's on a Cannondale for a while, and they never needed truing and never minded being ridden roughly.

They were a little flexible, but that just translates to comfort over a long ride.

  • I rode these on my old bianchi for a good 5 months to and from work, stayed straight EVEN WITH a lump like me on 'em!

  • Aidan's a genius.

  • Id be more worried about his saggy left handlebar, wonky seat and accomodation that looks like its a funhouse at a fairground

  • just because a 36 deep-v on high flange looks stronger than that wheel doesn't necessarily mean it will be, it will just mean a harsher ride.
there are plenty of sub 32 spoked wheels out there made by shimano/campag/bontrager etc that i would happily ride on my fixed

  • I've used a Bonty race wheel set on a cyclocross bike I had; it lasted ma a few years of regular rides around Woburn woods before I sold them on still true as new.

  • Nicholas Aidan's a genius.

  • A lass here at work has something very similar to them (maybe identical) on a Cotic Road Rat. They seem fine.

  • Yeah, just remember all those roadies out there you mock on light weight wheels are riding over the same (and worse) stuff than you lot.

  • shimano xt MTB wheelset, shimano don't really do shit wheels

  • Shimano's original road wheelset was shit. The low spoke count wh540's or whatever they were. They seem to have sorted all that out now.

  • I don't think i would mind using a low spoke count in the front, but i'm not sure it's that nice for a rear wheel since you put a whole lot of force through the spokes when skidding..

  • what bout snow flake laced?

  • I rode Rolf Propels down hill sides at speed with zero problems.
