  • nice very nice

  • Bully for them, that was well done.

  • Apparently the French camera crew lost a tripod and lens box, they later turn up in Andy's hair.

    Good stuff FixedGearLondon !

  • Nice one fellas!

  • French parts translation :

    1) Without scruples, madly in love with riding and perched atop their special bikes, without brakes and with only one gear, the supporters of 'fixed gear', (in french 'pignon fixe') ride on the roads of big cities. In tokyo, SF and London, their numbers are increasing. In London, there are more than 1000 of them. "Tracks" met up with some guys who are part of this new urban trend.

    2) Odge and Andy have been hooked on fixies for 2 years. Everyday they ride like madmen on the roads of london (!!). Their bikes aren't really widely avaliable and, in principle, should be used on a velodrome. The control obtained from a fixed gear demands the riders attention, and training. This retro way of riding allows the rider to control the speed and the braking. Andy + Odge are passionate, they live in a [kind of] warehouse. For a living, they make bikes which sell for between €900-2200. The frames are hard to find, and expensive. Often they have to import them from Italy/Japan.

    3) The culture of 'fixed gear' has been loved in SF for many years. It's here the 'MASH' was made, the first film showing a different kind of cycling. At the moment, ridin' fixy isn't as big in london as the US, but it's getting there [?].

    4) One essential condition [when riding on the road] is 100% concentration. Mike is 31y.o. He rides a brakeless fixie. For 5 years, he's worked as a courier. In his job, he rides for a minimum of 10hrs a day. He knows London like the back of his hand. Mike has learnt to know his limits, but he paid a heavy price ..[broken cheekbone in three places].. In spite of this, Mike continues to ride fixed and brakeless. Every day he rides more than 40km for his job. During rush hour, he goes twice as fast as a car.

    5) Whether they are lovers of speed, acrobatics, or couriering, London cyclists are numerous. Their haunt is the John Snow in Soho, and every week, there are always new cyclists.

  • good vid until the creepy gril crushes the entire world in her hands in the end.

    cheers for the translation lpg

  • Big up! And yes, Crowe is still about....

  • That warehouse is amazing. What's the story with that? They all live there or just sort of 'work' there?
    ?

  • Who's Tom Crowe? I once knew somebody by that name. Whisked away by some bird he was.

  • that was quite a touching story mike...it brought a tear to my eye.

  • What? About Tom?

  • you got some nice gloves in that mike... love/ hate?

  • trampsparadise Who's Tom Crowe? I once knew somebody by that name. Whisked away by some bird he was.
Somehow, this does not surprise me - the 'whisked away by a bird' part, that is.

If anyone happens to see him, tell him Jon from Naaaaridge/Dogfish/Dragon Bar says hello.

EDIT: he looked like this, a little over a year ago:

(no, not Yorgo's bum - the other guy)
