Yes, amazingly enough, my bike that was stolen from the A+E department at the hospital? The Police have managed to get it back.
I went back to the hospital on Wednesday and had a prowl round but didn't find the bike, then I had a word with the air ambulance porters, who had been so great and stored the bike and everything when I was brought in. They suggested try the security staff again, this I did and with their help got higher up the food chain than before. A security bod was dispatched to review the tapes for the time when the bike was stolen. A few hours later I get a call and cutting a long story short, the security staff and the police coordinated, and arrested one of the hospital's porters! They searched his flat and found (most of) my bike! Yabadadabdoo!
Quite strange and a lot of mixed feelings, the guy was a cycle enthusiast, but come on, you wouldn't steal another person's ride would you? It wasn't even that he fell so in love with my Evans that he had to have it as he had already started to strip it.
End result, he loses his job, will get a criminal record and I need new brakes. Mind you, with the state of me I've got plenty of time to find those.
I "heart" the hospital security and the police, all of them were wonderful.
Have a good weekend y'all.
