  • I heard that too, but never had a problem with it so far....good and bad reviews....
to be honest i dont really leave it out much - but serves the purpose, doesn't weigh a ton and can be used in the bedroom. 3 for 1.

  • He is chained to my bike at all times. He likes human flesh,

  • Hi Do any Sherlock's know where I could find a chrome mini-d like this just for when I'm standing by my bike having a pint, don't worry I know it can be bust easily. Thanks chaps. http://www.pedalmafia.com/bike_ups_img/304_3.html

  • Japan, you can get em anodised in a bunch of colours.

  • That's nice. I love the triumph of form over function.

  • wow the prices on http://www.saundersonsecurity.co.uk seem really good, almost a bit too good. I've been dragging my feet about getting a NY Fahgettaboudit chain, I think the weight put me off initially, but i've seen a few people wearing them round their waist. Anyone on here use one and if so what are they like for everyday use?

  • I use the hardcore ABUS Granit CityChain X-Plus 106 which i have round my waist when i ride and recently got a kryptonite evolution mini for extra security. teh extra lock's made so much of difference to my piece of mind.

  • nothing is safe!

unbelievable! the bike thief actually gets help from passers-by!

    k

  • My first post,

I'm going with the two lock idea, and a bit of healthy paranoia too. A kryptonite D lock and a nick big abus that I cahn ride with around my waste.

It just feels like having to take on two locks is going to make them think twice and hopefully I'll be back before they do.

I like the Orange kryptonite D lock, nice size and hard enough to make life difficult for the pesky thief.

  • I meant "A nice big abus" not a "Nicked" big abus... irony at such an early stage is beyond me.

  • saw abus armoured cable lock cut in two left outside vibe bar on brick lane on sunday. don't buy it.

  • this really is asking for it. it'll only be safe in japan. lock your bike that looks like this this way with a lock like that in london you're going to lose it 2 seconds flat.

  • A chrome lock? You must be kidding.

As i've mentioned on here many a time, d-locks are much, much better than chains. If you don't want the weight of a fahgettaboudit d lock, I'd go for a mini krypto (they're great) and a abus granite cable round my waist.

  • Bought the Krypto Fugg Mini at the weekend.
It is heavy but it's worth it in my opinion.

  • i know that d-locks are much stronger then chains, but i'd argue that you prob need 2 to lock up a bike well, where as with a chain and a mini D your sorted, surely you can lock your bike tighter (thus safer) and have the ability to go through more parts of your bike. also it means you can lock it to pretty much anything thats nice and strong, rather then having to find something that your d-lock goes round.

  • ive got a kryptonite i picked up in the summer and dont need at the moment. £50. its a 3.5 footer i think (an around the waist jobby)

im only about tonite and tomorrow though - after that i'll be shot of this fine land email: hamhat@gmail.com

  • Do any of the lock companies offer insurance schemes? I know a few used to offer up to £500 or £1000 (depending on the lock) if your bike was stolen and you could prove the lock was hacked...

    -Gordo

  • good luck claiming on them

  • this is a great lock

  • It is in my top five.

  • beautiful!

  • Built in 1794, Hanwell 6 locks on the Grand Union Canal are a 'Scheduled Ancient Monument'.
Raising the water level by 53 feet over just half a mile -London reprazent! Word.

  • "Panama Canal Locks

The Panama Canal Locks, which lift ships up 25.9 m (85 ft) to the main elevation of the Panama Canal, were one of the greatest engineering works ever to be undertaken at the time, eclipsed only by other parts of the canal project. No other concrete construction of comparable size was undertaken until the Hoover Dam in the 1930s. The total length of the lock structures, including the approach walls, is over 3 kilometres (nearly two miles).

The locks, which have a total of six steps, limit the maximum size of ships which can transit the canal, known as Panamax. Each of these steps has two lock chambers, doubling the amount of traffic that can be handled; together they raise ships from sea level to a height of 25.9 m (85 ft)."

Yeah baby now that what I call a lock!
