I know the tensioner thing shouldn't really work! If you want one to fold you have to have one as it gains about 3-4 inches of length when you collapse the rear. The reason it actually does work is because I've managed to shorten the chain by four links which makes it so short it basically can't come off as long as the rear doesn't collapse in use, (so the tensioner is not taking up any tangible slack) and secondly because there's a wee clip that holds the hinging back to the back of the seatpost that stops unwanted slack 'happening' when it's travelling over bumps. It's pretty solid - I can brake with my legs as normal and even pull the odd wee skid... :)

Ahhh interesting. I was pondering about it today in a rather boring lecture.

Any chance of a picture of the tensioner/dropout/cog area? I'm tempted to fix mine up depending on how big my tax rebate is in April.

I do love riding mine and all but not sure whether I want to drop that much money on it when I've got my proper fix back home (5 months to go...)
