  • found out that i'm gonna have to wait a while to get my old carlton down to london to fix up.
so i went and got an old bike to get me on the road in the meantime.
it's an old raleigh olympus, fairly small frame, but it'll do for now.
i figured i would just put my parts on to it so it's a decent ride, then transfer them to my carlton when i get it.
just got a couple of problems though. i'm pretty new to road bikes in general so you'll have to bear with me.

the cotter pin on the left crank is jammed. it moves, but won't come all the way out.
can i get away with just removing the bb from the other side?

the bottom bracket is seriously jammed in there. i tried pouring boiling water on it, this helped on one side but not the other.

the fork is too narrowly spaced for my hub. how far is it safe to stretch it? and any tips?

finally, what's the best way to space out my rear hub? the rear dropouts are miles apart!
    cheers.
    k
