rg37 what happened for you to stack it?
Going along Old St heading east just before 7pm last Tuesday, not much other traffic, an oncoming car decided to turn right fast across my side of the road presumably without looking, I piled straight into him, put my head through the window as demonstrated by the wounds to my head, face and neck. I guess I shouldered the car as well as my collar bone is stuffed; I don't yet know as I was out for the count. Very lucky to be all still here.

RPM which hospital?
The London at Whitechapel.
The ambulance crew, A+E Dept and the ward staff were fantastic, max respect.

ok, just I live near st georges, would have kept a look out, it's a distinctive bike.

That's a fairly special combo, and those red CXP33s aren't the easiest to come by any more.
My eyes are on the road for ya as I'm round that way… -
• #8
Shit ! hope you are healing up !
I will keep my eyes peeled (North London Camden/swiss cottage/Primrose hill/Regents Park) around this way.
Did the driver stick around as far as you know ?

tynan Did the driver stick around as far as you know ?
I haven't managed to speak to the attending police yet, but I believe he/she did stay on scene. Kind of hard to do a runner with 17 stone of unconscious cyclist hanging out of your window...

you must've been going at a pretty good clip to have gone through his window, eh?
-
• #11
Not sure, but I guess about 20mph, maybe +-. At least I did some damage.
-
• #12
christ, hope your ok. i know this might seem obvious but have you checked with the hospital security? cause they have cctv at most doors to stop wheelchairs/morphine going missing. my guess is the store cupboard doubles as the cleaners cupboard so ask to check round about the times of shift changes.

Man what a run of bad luck. I'll keep my eyes peeled out West.

We saw the aftermath outside our window - wondered if it was someone on here.
Hope you heal up quick and get your bike back. Will keep a look out also round Old St way.

I'll keep them peeled in Whitechapel.Shin

hope you find it and recover fully fast.
I'll keep eyes peeled - those rims are very, very recognisable. I didn't even know they came in red.
-
• #21
Chap, if you don't have any immediate luck in recovering it and you are insured, then I'd say it's fairly obvious that you locked it up somewhere (where there happens not to be any CCTV, not that the bill would ever bother checking it for something as petty as bike theft) and when you came back both bike and lock had gone...
In the meantime I'll keep my eyes open and heal well.

• #22
won't the hospital help? There must be cctv in the hospital right?
-
• #23
yeah, there must be. Probably best to try that before going down the semi-fraud route...
-
• #24
Thats rough,
Lucky to be with us-I'll keep eyes open Stoke newington/Clapton-but hassle the hospital they got cameras everywhere......

Just tracked down one of the officers who attended the crash, guy was lovely, I know the police can get a lot of stick on this forum, but this guy gets a 10/10 rating from me, spent about half an hour filling me in with details of what happened after the crash and was then even making admiring comments about the Evans. Clone that copper please!
Now to hassle the hospital.
So, when I was brought into the hospital unconscious on Tuesday night, they stashed my Evans in a store cupboard, it was still there Thursday when they let me out, but now its gone. Seems like some thieving shit bag lifted it during the Thursday night shift. Details:
25" Black Evans frame 531 etc. Black Brooks saddle, red CXP33 rims on Ultrega 9 speed hubs, left hand bar tape is ripped to shreds.
If you see it let me know as I doubt that the insurance will cover a bike "left in a cupboard".
