Conan - hear gateshead, think Newcastle. The Baltic is a converted flour mill on the south bank of the Tyne. It's had a bit of a shaky life so far, but some pretty interesting exhibitions. Give it a chance! Its really the premier venue for art in the north east really...
I'm newcastle born and bred, and an art student at st. martins. If it wasn't for the shows that have been put on or have visited the baltic (Antony Gormley, British Art Show 6, Carol Rama retrospective, this, others I cba to name...) I wouldn't be doing art now. The baltic is good but they could use their space better, quite infuriating. Worth a visit if you're in the area though.
By the way did you buy a silver deep V (rim only) from BLB today? I was in there with my pista negotiating some replacement forks. Was going to say hi but I didn't really feel up for saying "are you conan?" in public.
