Rear hub wanted?

A friend of mine is looking for a 36h fixed rear hub, at the moment hes running a standard freewheel hub with cog and some sort of locking ring!!! He says it undo's most days while riding!

But the problem is hes quite skint so can only spend abt £25ish or a little more if its a nice hub.
Must be 120 spaced and have locking ring. Also needs to be posted as we live in the midlands?

if you tighten up the cog with a chainwhip and (im guessing the lockring is actually a BB ring) the lockring as long as hes easy on the back pedalling it should be ok for a while

you can buy a condor sealed bearing hub for £25 the ones i've seen are 32 hole but guess they should have 36 as well

Yeah thats what he does, but it still comes undone really easy, but he is running a 52-16 which might be part of the reason??

kiwi will do you a miche 36h for 30

condor only do 32h.
rear hub is not where you save money! take rakan's advice or hunt down a system ex/ambrosio/formula.

There's also an even better way to tighten the cog without needing a chain whip.

Brilliant Technique

I use this and don't own a chain whip, this technique makes one redundant. As long as you're careful not to damage the paint round the BB and don't tighten too much as the method is so good it's easy to strip the threads on a cheap freewheel hub.

of course, you have to reverse the direction you wrap the chain depending on whether you are removing or tightening the cog

but then rotafix is not an excuse not to get a proper hub. just get one.

iv play polo on a rotafixed freewheel hub and hardly touched my front brake, it hasnt budged at all considering all the skiding but i suppose if he wants to do a proper job.
