Is single speed good on a mountain bike? I hired a bike in the Peak District last weekend and I was constantly changing gears. It was very, very steep though. I suppose if I'l be doing jumps then single speed would be good

I'll check out your wife's bike to get an idea of what I might need.
If anyone knows of anyone selling something similar or something that they think might be suitable (I'm 5'7) then could you let me know?
I guess I'm posting on the wrong forum for this... but I haven't got into/don't know anything about mountain bikes yet which is why I started this on here...
