It's always the way - desire for new bike vs no money for it! Someone said in another thread that secondhand mountain bikes are going fairly cheap on ebay at the moment. Definitely cool for people to come too - I'm looking forward to getting into the countryside and seeing some greenery.
If you get really into jumping then you might want to get a specific bike, but a general pupose hardtail ought to be fine to start with.
