Used to do loads at the wall in Bristol and seemed to stop after an Alpine trip in 2001.
Would love to find a climbing partner again.
The Castle ain't cheap though.

can meet up with you guys after the 6th , until then no way to get memebership at the castle
-

I think that beginners would be welcome, as long as we have enough people to show them the ropes (boom boom).
@lucky - true about cheapness. I generally climb at Westway now which is also pricy but not as bad. I do like the castle though, loads of ropes, nice boulder sections and character. Plus the cafe is a cool place to chill.
let's get some names together and then sort out a date / location.:

I've just started climbing with a mate at Mile End climbing wall. How's that compare to the Castle?

mile end is a lot smaller, bit darker and not as well as set up to be honest - IMHO. Lots of bouldering routes but not as many top rope lines.
I'm happy to show someone how to belay and the basics but you will need to pass a competence test before they give you a membership. ie, how to tie the required knots, how to belay, best practice and dangers to watch out for.
Already got membership.

Yeah, I am generally there twice a week. I'm constantly amused by the fact that fixed wheel bikes often outnumber geared bikes in the bike park. Happy to sign people in as well etc

I climb at the Westway all the time, but sadly I'm not running a fixie.... yet
Actually -Was it anyone on here that parked a '07 Wrongster at the Westway covered head-to-toe in brown parcel tape?
It's gonna be a bitch to clean up the glue when they take that lot off!

With that many people wanting to do it sounds like it might be economical to get a group together for an introduction course?
-
• #21
make it summerish and im down, never used ropes before though
-
• #22
You forgot about the amazing bike parking at the castle too.
I'm there 2-3 times a week so I'll definitely be there when FGSS makes it. -

I'll still be going by the time you get back :]
I bumped into Object17 this morning and we got to chatting about climbing. It occured to me that quite a lot of people on here seem to be into climbing. Would anyone be up for getting together a LondonFGSS trip to the Castle sometime?
