want it for street???? loads of use??? anything sealed...shimano 105???? ultegra?????
stack height..........if you have a headset which has lower stack height than the one you gonna use then the fork steerer would be too short to thread the locknut on it...does that makes sense???.......either same stack height headset or lower stack one with spacers in between top cup and locknut.......or chris king grip nut which threads into itself so can be used with undercut steerer......if you have 67 pounds plus to spare though -

shimano 105 headsets are decent. if you want good and solid and don't mind paying a bit more, campag chorus 1" threaded. £24 on ebay new.

I would go for the 105 too. £12 posted from CRC. Strip it and polish it for a lovely finish.

i just got an unused Dura Ace for £18 + £2.50 p+p :)

the bearings for the dura ace headset are the same as the 105
also they are made of extremely soft alloy which is easy to mash up with thin headset spanners, also be careful with the crown race that is equally flimsy
i have had a few king headsets and they werent all that good, there is inconsistent friction on the bearings, anyhoo anyone that thinks they can actually tell the difference when riding is a big fat liar
the best headset i have ever had is the c-record loose ball one, all steel so pretty tough and easy to service yourself. you can get them around on the bay for aboot 30 quid. any of the old campy ones work quite well or hatta swan if you no anyone that can get one -

great, thanks, and there was me thinking i got a good deal.... :(

ha! just read what i wrote and it sounds well negative!
that is a good price for that headset though for a sixty quid headset, but when you install it try and get the fat headset spanner from park otherwise you are going to mash up the beautiful matt alloy finnish -

no, worries.
heard that the crown races are supposed to be a bit flimsey, might have to source a 105 one. -

even the ultegra one comes with a steel race but you can use the race from an stx even they are all the same shape

I've got a DA headset on one my bikes and it's been fine for the year or so that I've been using it. I only bought it cos it was cheap and so think that 105 or ultegra will be just as good (or better because of durability).

Hmm but the DA ones have sealed bearings don't they?

bling bling, the new 105's are sealed as well ;)
I'm in the market. Does anyone have any recommendations? Also, what difference will stack height make?
