depends on the quality of the lock really, wheel jacks sometimes work or big ass bolt cutters (the sort that come up to your waist)
there's always the co2+hammer combo as well but I've never tried it. -

If it's a kryptonite try the 'pen trick' in case it's one of those ones. myspace have lots of vids about that.

A car jack - of course!
I'll just keep hitting it with a car jack till it gives in!It's a Bikehut thing from Halfords - probably not that tough. So when I'm jacking it off (oo-er) is it likely to spring off suddenly in a dangerous fashion?
Thanks guys

Just get a hacksaw and a carbide blade (probably a few so you can be guaranteed to finish the job). Hacksaw should take you 15-60 mins to cut the lock (depending on the quality of the blade). If you have access to power tools and a cutting disc a scary 2-5mins should do it.
Don't try and bend the lock off as you'll probably fsuk up the frame.
This is one good example of why Krypto and Abus rock as a lock company because you can always get replacement keys as long as you keep a record of your locks serial number.

If its just a frame and is def yours you could stroll along to your nearest fire station and ask them if they can chop it off with their bad ass cutters?
-
• #12
they offer that kind of service do they?
-

I like the idea of getting a fireman to do it - was getting a bit nervous about damaging my bike/car jack/hands etc.
I'll give that a try.

You can use a plumbers freezing kit, and then just hit it with a hammer and it will break. Surprisingly easy and fairly cheap. If you are lucky your friendly diy shop will sell just the spray can for the freezing kit which is even cheaper.

What's the best way to break a D-Lock? I've got one stuck on my frame which I've lost the keys for.
Do I have to saw through it?
Or bend it open with a crowbar?
I don't need anything subtle - just the least labour intensive way of breaking the lock.
