that shoulder looks stuffed hippy. your lucky that fragment no3 did not pierce thru anythin else in that shoulderI'll show you the sticky-outty bit some time. It's smoothed over with time (as they said it would) but it's obviously 'not quite right' :)
I'm off for a club run. Now it shouldn't be icy.. it's just the rain and the oil that'll get us :S

fatboyralph thanks guys, for the company in that long walk to the station. only just got out of my cycling clothes. found out that ive got one of them bruises as well. right hip, not as big. weird how all my clothing survived...well done decathlon. helmet is spotless as well. mustve slid on the smoothest part of the road. still think i caused everyone else to stack it...sorry bout that. ill shout ice on my way down next time ;)
weird. ive been tryin to remember exactly what happened. dont think i realise ive slipped until my back was on the tarmac...didnt even try to soften the fall. bit dissappointed in my slow reaction
I don't think we could have done anything differently even if you'd been able to warn us. I remember seeing you go down and thinking "that's odd", then the next thing I knew I was sliding along the deck and looking behind me when I saw BMMF crashing down as well. We seemed to slide along for absolutely ages, it must have been a really big sheet of ice. As you say, it would have been a lot worse if there were any cars around, so I think we were pretty lucky. Funny how we all came down on the same side.
My bruise has come up nicely this morning, and there's a noticeable lump compared with my other leg. Ralph, I hope you feel better soon, glad your bike is okay too.

Sorry to hear about your injury fbr. Hope it gets better soon.
Yesterday, I went on the West Kent Road Club reliability ride that Fixedwheelnut mentioned on this thread. Not bad. One steep hill towards the end. There was another guy who was also riding a fixed Pearson, but I didn't get a chance to ask him if he was affiliated with this forum. Anyone on here?

Everyone still up for next Sunday? I, err, am.
Went out for a ride this morning, after 2 of 22 miles of being straight into a wanky headwind I gave up! Had enough of this fucking wind. Also not feeling too clever, haven't been since the New Year.
Expect to see me wheelsucking a lot next week!
-
• #242
not worried bout the wind, just wish i could ride! off the bike for another 2-4wks i reckon...im no tyler hamilton
hope weather's good for you guys next week. wheelsucking is fine, just make sure you bob your head paula radcliffe style at every stroke in case someone looks behind ;)

Yeah, hope the recovery works out Ok for you.
Just cleaned the bike up for next week and found out that my freewheel has decided to want to slide back and forth 4-5mm. Great.
Will wait for it to dry out before having a look. It's a 2004 Campag Centaur 10-speed hub, I've never taken it apart before, slightly different cup and cone method than ShimaNo, it will be (another) learning curve I guess.

Looks like I might be doing Harp Hilly rather than Ashdown as there's a bunch of Willesden riders doing it.
I didn't quit after 2mi.. bike and I needed a good clean at home.. http://thehippy.net/nucleus/index.php?itemid=960
Got my new toy as well..

I see the Sean Eadie look is coming along nicely.....
Enjoy Harp Hilly!!
Freewheel all fixed, t'was just a loose nut on the drive side that is supposed to hold the freewheel on. Took less than a minute.

Cheeky shit! I'll have you know I'm "riding slow to get faster" at least that's what my training book tells me.. more like I'm just knackered going up hill. :)
