Cinelli stamped on the BB shell just means it's a Cinelli BB :)

Top End Raleigh, Gazelle and a good few other companies use Cinelli lugged cast bottom brackets..... it's kinda like the dropouts on some high end bikes, those are usually Campagnolo dropouts well built and high quality
photo's might help -

The main reason Im thinking its not a cinelli
-
• #9
from the way it looks (e.g. track ends, the bit the seatstays are welded to the seat tube, etc) i'm quite very sure the frame isn't a cinelli. as jos and dicki said it's just the bb shell.

• #10
Yeah, I thought it wasn't a cinelli.

can anyone get the photo up i can't see the pici ?

Thanks Dicki

lets see some close ups of those decals on the frame and see what they say (tubing etc.) that should determine if it's any good?
-
• #14
There not campy, there Mavic, they look the same. The decals are columbus. The frame ones are faded, but it looks like Danguillaume. Ring any bells?

I think its a campag BB
-

it's a relatively recent cinelli bb cos of the logo, maybe early '90
but the frame is not a cinelli..
in italy I have a track frame from end of the '80 that has the cinelli bb box as well, but different logo. My frame have been built by a local italian frame builder using columbus tubing with campagnolo drop outs...
usually the cinelli bb box and quality drop outs were used with quality tubing to build custom or just hand-build frames.
some of theese frames were not welded but chemically glued.
anyway I would restore it...
otherwise i'm looking for a frame to use here in london.... -

Thanks Pepperoni. I think it could be a custom job as you say. Its from france for shure, and has the famous rider Danguillaume decals, but to my knowledge he never made frames. The lug works really nice, and all the parts seem high spec. Im just not shure if its worth spending upwards of £100 to restore it.

edmundane: 170 not 165. Im not looking to sell them right now. I am going to have a clear out this week of a load of stuff, and have an "as new" campy crank, but it is the new style. If your interested?

I know Mercian well, I grew up in Derby, there great, but yeah £150 is quite a lot. I would ride it, but as I said, its just too small :)

remove the paint on your own and just get the paint work done...think you would save a lot!
what is the size?
it really looks a twin of my italian frame... -
• #22
Maybe its Italian then? Its really small, I don't have a tape measure to hand, but I would gues under 50cm. Im tepted to have a go at the paint myself, just depends how cheap I can get it done.

I got my frame from the builder in Turin that is pretty neat to France, it's pretty easy that they where using the same components...
what's more, from what you were saying of the stickers I don't think it can be italian... -
• #24
The paint job looks pretty french to ;)

Hi. I've got an old "Cinelli" (I say Cinelli, Im not actually shure what it is, but it has a cinelli stamp on the bottom bracket) that im thinking of having restored by Mercian. If it was a real cinelli I would definatly spend the cash to do it up, but as Im not shure of the maker Im wondering if its worth it? Its too small for me aswell, so I'll end up giving it to the Mrs or selling it. If any one has any info on frames with cinelli stamps that don't look like real cinellis, or info on restoration I'd be very interested.
