    london is shit

  • london is good....the people are not so

Here is a pic that is a year old.

  • sorry about that fella. very nice whip, eyes are peeled.

  • Bad luck pnagle. I was parked out there on friday at that time, with a pretty dowdy-looking bike, which I was lucky enough to ride home on. My bird always says 'never have anything people want' which i think is pretty good advice. Your favourite scott is being a bit unfair though. I mean, we're in england so fuckin what? Why shoudln't we get to keep our bikes?

Maybe we should ask the Prince to get some CCTV for us customers, we can keep an eye on those railings, and if any fucker comes with their car jack we can all pile out and kick them in in some jazzy east-london styled re-enactment of a western bar brawl, after all there were enough moustaches, quiffs and checky shirts in there on friday... Bagsy I have the balsa-wood chair.

  • your favourite scott

apprently you don't really love your bike that much..that bike was like a memeber of my family I was
very depressed the next day. i have brought that bike all over with me (montreal, new york, london, minneapolis,
chicago) and wanted to have it as long as i could ride......now that is a broken dream..oh well its a BIKE right?

now I have some hand built Nottingham Raleigh..not as nice but it will do.
Doesn't nearly feel the same...but I guess nothing really will unless I ride all campy again. SIGH

I was upset that there was no CCTV there. Live and learn I suppose.

  • I think he was commenting on the use of 'whip', not the quality/value/luck of your bike.

  • Sorry to hear that pnagle. Eyes are peeled!

Thing is I dont think they would be that fussed. Its not theyre (the pubs) responsibility. I had £230 of stuff stolen of my bike two saturdays ago. The problem is once the pub gets full or its 11 oclock they lock the door and shut the curtains as its in a residential area and this is when the fuckers crawl out from under theyre stones and the stuff gets stolen. It seems that everyone knows someone who has had stuff stolen from there.

Its quite clearly the same people doing it i it couldnt be to hard to catch them in the act.

I now will never leave my bike out side the George. I strongly suggest no one else does either.

  • It's not that clear, Scott :)

Tough luck, by the way pnagle. Eyes peeled.

  • Your favourite scot is taking the piss - "whip", "steed", "wheels", "ride", "beater", "runaround"...etc....
Shut it you tarts - it's an 'effin bicycle! ;-)
@ pnagle - That bike is too unique to slip under the radar surely?! Make sure to post on some other bike-geek forums - I will keeep an eye out in West for ya..
EDIT - slooow typing here, clearly.

  • and scott is pretty much one of the biggest bike addicts on here with a collection that makes us drool...

  • will keep an eye out for it... don't see too many ciocc's in town anyway, they're a rare breed should be really easy to spot.

  • Heyyyy I've got a great idea! Let's boobytrap a bike and chain it up there with a believeable yet shit lock!

  • Glad to say there were hardly any bike-peddlers at brick lane this weekend.
Maybe po-po presence has scared them off.

  • Maybe the little fnckers just can't sell any, because the type of turd that buys from BL won't ride in the rain.

  • yah i went to BL on sunday, there was nothing but crap bikes there being sold for too much money.

Yeah it will be a super easy bike to spot with the white campy areo hoods, blue vittoria tyres and all campag parts...

I have thought about doing a stake out to catch them in the act, but I don't know what that would yeild for me. I am sure
they have sold it already, probably for 50 quid or something stupid.

Any other hot spots for stolen bikes around east london? I checked the market along kingsland road and a few bike shops in Dalston, but
    didn't find anything.

  • spoke to some guy at tesco kingsland road and he's had a charge plug nicked over the weekend, it's got white deep v's and flat bars with white grips.
i told him to check this site out and post more details

  • I moved to London a few weeks ago and had my first day of work today. At 9 am I locked my bike to a lamp post on Duke Street right next to the Selfridges staff entrance. Once I left for home at around 4 pm it was gone. No lock left or anything. I had a late 80's early 90's olmo fixie conversion. I'm completely pissed off and miserable because I had repainted the frame, gotten rid of all the unnecessary brazings (bottle cage bolt holes, gear shifter places, rear derailleur hanger etc..) and even filled in the bottle cage brazing holes. It was like a my own kid or something like that. I have been building it up for about 3 years now and I finally got it into a configuration that I was happy with about a week ago. The bike is very distinctive and there will not be another in london. If someone sees someone riding it then they have my permission to kick their teeth in, take the bike and call me at 07521 321360 (the name's Alvi).

    Spec....

Frame and Fork: Custom Olmo resprayed (53cm if I can remember right)
    Headset: Campag
    Stem: 3ttt quill stem
Handlebar: Sakae Champion Chopped and Flopped
    Seatpost: Thomson Elite Inline
Saddle: Old Brooks B17 (full hard plastic)
    Front Brake Caliper: shimano 105
Front Brake Lever: DIrty Harry BMX
Front Wheel: Mavic cxp23 anodized red laced to a CODA hub
Rear Wheel: Planet-X rim laced to a On-one hub
