• Weird, I had a feeling he was a copenger. But I thought 'who'd be so silly as to do that?'

• maybe he gets a thrill, like those dudes who go round dressed up as firemen in emergencies and stuff.

• Battle Re-enactment at weekends too I reckon

• Ha! The classic Only Fools & Horses sketch!

• Actually they're not all bad. I asked my local if I could chop the lock on a frame that had been there for the entire summer getting the shit kicked out of it. He said fire away and gave me his name in case any coppers asked me what i was doing. Unfortunately it was to small for me but my mate built it up

• weird things happen... SIR

• lets just recap......this guy lied about being a police officer!!

• the police work in mysterious ways.

• I thought the UCL email address was a bit odd, to begin with.

I assume he must be a fakenplod: CSO

• Or he did it to get a rise out of everyone?

• well he'll say that now, won't he?

• police always make me rise.....if ya get my drift?:)

• hoho trolltings fagwan

• A real long shot here:
I dropped my keys somewhere along Charing Cross/Tottenham Court Road last night: two keys for bike locks and a bottle opener on a ring.

Don't suppose anyone spotted these, picked them up....
There's a huge reward!!!

Didn't think so.

Unfortunately these were my spares, which leaves me with two useless locks.

Balls.

• I am actually a Special Constable and still a part-time student. I left the bar a few months ago.

Some of you are wholly right, my tone was misconstrued due to the way in which my comments were written. With hindsight and constructive criticism I see now how they were taken.

I only mentioned my role in the police as a means to more clearly explain my understanding of general police resources, not to add any more weight to my claim, get a rise out of anyone or least of all try and fool someone into thinking I could do any more about the matter than any of you.

The part about the scenario of me seeing anyone with the wheel did not come across well either. If it did happen I wouldn't be wanting to tackle an uncompliant person off duty, if I couldn't work out where they got it from I would be phoning the police to update the report with a recent sighting. This would be extra evidence and every little helps.

It was never my intention here to try and change people's opinions or attitudes towards the police. Whatever you think it's your own perogative. I only wanted to make use of a medium that I thought might help.

Any anger that came across in my comments was aimed solely at the person or people who came in through my front gate and took my property. It was never directed at anyone reading this forum (unless the previous sentence applies to them).

For those that asked;

The frame and front wheel(QR) were locked to the fence with a heavy chain that wouldn't go round the back wheel (solid axle) as well. A longer one will be got for the future.
There's no room for it in the house and shlepping it round the back takes away the convenience of a bike.
Nothing else was taken thankfully.
I have contacted my local bike shops.
My neighbours a thankfully helpful and would have at least told me if not phoned 999.
Cars and Motorbikes shouldn't be stopping in the ASL boxes (Sano).

• does it look like this?

• Good luck finding your wheel I am still waiting for the police to find my stolen mercedes from a private car park outside my flat, my specialized globe sport nicked in soho, when they parked a bomb outside my other offices, and my langster nicked from outside my front door in the hallway of our flat (which by the way was police registered).

• spin spin spin.... honestly sarge, it's not stolen, I just like a small step-over height. Plus the basket it useful for carrying those spare guns.

• Jesus fuckin' wept! So he's a rozzer that doesn't even get paid!

• RPM
stevo_com "If it gets offered for sale and you buy it then I see you riding it, I may assume you are the one who stole it, you REALLY don't want that"

That comment was meant to mean, I and my friend will be actively seeking it out when we see a single speeder or fixed wheeler and stopping people if we think we see it, not just running round like mercenaries. So, if you do think it's that wheel, it would be better to tell me, I am considering a reward.

It's not that the police don't give a fuck (some have become entirley disillusioned and unfortunately can give that impression) its that the amount of evidence to go on is unfortunately usually so low that there really is nothing to go on. No police officer like thieves, they hate them, they want to catch them. They should in all honesty look at available CCTV which from what I've read seems to be lacking unfortunately.

I have to say that I am a bit disappointed at the hostility I have received, besides hippy and rpm. I would have thought the community spirit that is usually strong between fixed wheelers would have seen more support.

but that comment was (certainly seen by some people as) deliberately accusatory and threatening.

you don't gain solidarity by being a cop.
fixed

lol did your lawyer dictate that to you? Seriously tho I hope you find it or something good comes out of it, were a considerate lot usually, just off on the wrong foot eh? ;) i just gave an old rear wheel away or you could have had it. maybe some one here has an old one knocking about?

• thanks hael, thats very considerate of you.

If I could afford a lawyer I wouldn't be worrying so much about a wheel!!! I'll have to hoke out my parts bin and list stuff, mainly things worth a beer or two that I can't be arsed to eBay but are too good for the skip.

• that's what I always do when the bike related shit hits the air-con. sell the parts drawers off.

right, the rest of you, you can only insult this man during your free time now.
