i used to live behind Tesco's on Old Kent road and work in the Garrison on Bermondsey st. As mentioned the two areas are massively different. Bermondsey st is nice and has been hugely gentrified over the last decade or so, and I'm sure the prices reflect that. Old kent is 'a touch' further behind, I'm sure they're throwing loads'a money at it, but 3/4 years ago it wasn't all that pretty...
I'd just get whoevers thinking of moving there, to go spend some time in the area at different times, to get a proper feel for it.
