nv55 I got stopped going the wrong way up a one-way street, and said "But I'm on a bike, I'm allowed to". I believed it too. Copper seemed less sure after that and let me off. I was wrong though.
I think a campaign to make most/all one-ways two way for cyclists would be excellent. There's a few of these on my back-street ride to work, they make perfect sense - why should cycles be forced to go round the houses to accomodate the congestion caused by motor vehicles?
One way streets suck anyway, look at how much better the Shoreditch 'triangle' is for cycles and peds now its two way. People used to drive at 60mph round there regularly, like they still do on East Road (bottom of New North Road) that place is a pedestrian death zone, regularly. No proper crossings, two or three lanes of twats in porches trying to get from Islington to the city. Fast.
We gotta get pedestrians get our side people. No Pelican Jumping should be de rigeur (unless there's a ghost that pressed the button I guess).
