Cougar track frame. Anyone any info?

Posted on
  • I just got a Cougar track frame. I got a whole bike and this was the F&F, some very nice parts, but I can't find any info on the maker. Any info would be very appreciated. I've seen what looks like a road bike by the same maker on here, and also seen a low pro one on velospace, but no straight track frames or any info on the maker. By the way its not a 'Corima' Cougar. The only other obvious marks are the Dedacciai decal.

  • Doesn't aidan have one of these?

  • I think it's got something to do with Terry Dolan

  • did you get the blue one on ebay?

  • Cougar were (and may still be) a builder based in Liverpool. Pistanator is right as Terry Dolan definitely worked for them, although for how long I don't know. They also used to build for Chris Boardman when he was an amateur. They were very popular in the late 80s and early 90s. Nice frames.

  • Well... my Cougar track frame has a Terry Dolan signature decal on the top tube - its a pretty old frame though (80s/90s), and its 653 tubes. Other than that, I know nothing. I spose Dolan could've been the manufacturer, or they just put his name on their frames cos they felt like it...

  • or because they were scared of getting a slap

  • Google throws up this thread so aidan has one (a very nice one from the photo it must be said).

  • thanks andy......it is nice :)
