  • That's not what I want to hear.. I've got other rides to um.. ride after it. :S

  • Hey Hippy, I'm doing L2P and ToW too. Checked your Nicki Gudex link, nice one ;-) Did you see the calendar link I posted on the BikePorn thread?

  • Um.. probably but feel free to dig it out again and post it here :)

  • And the pic............
    And the pic............

  • Ah yes, I am familiar with the L2P calendar.. :)

  • hippy That's not what I want to hear.. I've got other rides to um.. ride after it. :S

Peter van Petegem swears blind that you need no more than 5 bar (70 psi) in your tyres for pave so heed his advice. But everyone I've ever spoken to about Paris-Roubaix reckons you need 3-4 days recovery as a bare minimum.

  • WessexTriple - 2wks - ParisRoubaix - 2.5wks - L2P = doable? I dunno. I have serious doubts. I'm not built for distance.

Did anyone book the camping for Wessex? £10 per night per person is a bit steep. If I take Mal I'm spending as much on sleeping in a tent as I am riding! :S

He weighs 72kg.. I weigh 94kg. I'm not a fan of fixing punctures so would run my normal 100psi I think. That's also what they suggest on al@creative's website link.

I wonder what pressure Maggie Backstedt runs as he's about the same weight as you?

I lived in Belgium and rode an aluminium bike - I'd lowered my pressures after a couple of rides as I got fed up with riding the cycling equivalent of a pneumatic drill!

Yeah I thought it was a bit steep and there's bound to be something else better value nearby.

  • Mal's asleep so I didn't get to any conclusion with her and whether she wants to stay or not. We have a 2-man tent but I dunno about camping man. I NEED my hot shower after a ride.
FInd me a nice B&B canya illy cheers mate! :)

True, he's around 90kg. Do you have his email address? :) Got it (kinda): http://www.magnusbackstedt.com/MB/Contact.cfm

"Magnus Backstedt was using Neutrons when he won Paris-Roubiax." from another forum. No idea about tyres though.

  • There's a two-page article on French sportives in CW this week....

  • I spoke to a coach last night and she laughed at what I had down for May/June! :S
"Cancel this, don't do that" :)
I wrote the cheque for Paris-Roubaix last night but Scott emailed me this morning saying he's now full. Doh! I'm on the reserve list though.
I still haven't done anything about Wessex. I'm thinking about doing 3 days and then without P-R I'll do Chiltern 100 and then just rest up for LondresParis.

I'll have a look for CW Plantini, cheers!

Oh, the Grand Fondo Cymru in Wales is on at the same time as Wessex if anyone is interested.

  • spoke to the mrs. im good to go for the wessex. although couple of factors holding me back 1) it's over the long weekend which means good value (cheap) b&bs would be hard to find, 2) id like do the gran fondo cymru (but i guess that can wait til next year...already booked for 2 other welsch rides)

illy, hippy how about we get a van for transpor and a self serviced house somewhere in somerset. would that be cheaper?

  • oh saw an ad in metro this morning, £9 deal with travelodge for june-aug

  • £9 for what?

I was thinking about the van option. That's why I keep asking who's doing what. Group rates ya know! Go as a bit of a team.
Um, I wonder if Caspar is for hire? wink wink nudge nudge say no more.. I mean, Caspar and his van. He's probably booked up with mtb tours though, being summer..

    Hmm..

  • hippy, does your club run on sunday get out into the Chilterns? quite likely i am gonna be out there sunday playing on the hills.

  • Hips, is this really the profile for the Chiltern 100?? If so, there's not much flat stuff!!

  • there's a lot of downhill though sam ;)

This week's is heading to Wendover so will take some path between these two points..
    Denham - Wendover

  • will look out for you around gt missenden in that case. will be riding from amersham to thame and back. though not til late morning. couple of easy miles in the legs which i don't think are quite ready for the surrey hills just yet

    http://omcoc.blogspot.com/2007/06/chiltern-100.html - Ed's ride review
    http://www.chiltern-hundred.org.uk/pages/routesgran.html - There's a course profile at the bottom.

It's around 2-2500m of climbing if that means anything to you?

Chilterns are only little hills, smaller than those found on the Catford Hillclimb ride. Well, the ones I've ridden are.
If my plan works I will be riding this but it will be recovery from Wessex.. actually that's not really a recovery at all..

I'll be riding with a bunch of old, slow peeps, looking surly due to a lack of a hangover to look surly from..

  • Sam, I read that if you get 6 or more people you get guaranteed entry. LFGSS team? You have to ride it fixed or ss of course :)
