Vinz Just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone. I have come to the conclusion that you get more for your money in the south, but it lacks a certain Je ne sais quoi The north has that certain something but you have to be willing to pay.
Trust me, there is nothing special about north london. Every crappy area in London has it's nice bit tacked on the side. there are nice pockets all over town, north, south, east or west. Prices are higher in the north because the transport is generally better. Anywhere along green lanes was, IMO, a bit dire. Tower hamlets was expensive (tax wise) i guess because it's only you paying any sort of council tax. However, there are plenty of places to go and see/do interesting stuff. Covent garden was really noisy and we had a tiny flat so best i don't comment. That was a bad year! Many of my friends really rate West Hampstead and i can sort of see why, it's ok. That wasn't very helpful really. Put a pin in a map, chances are it'll be ok. Even Camberwell has it's good days. ;)
