Has anyone here ever tried shellac-ing their cotton bar tape?
I just had a go (see end names and faces to bike thread or this picture)
and it isn't quite right. Disregarding my slightly ragged first attempt
at a harlequin weave, the varnish dulled the bright yellowness of the
tape much more than I expected. The only shellac based varnishes
I could find at my local diy shop were french polish, which I thought
would be too dark, and something called 'white polish', which is what
I used. I'll try a few more coats and see what happens, but does anyone
know where to get a completely clear shellac varnish?
