  • yup they are comfy. did a century tour on them no prob. I have those syntace and they also swoop back a little too which is nice

  • I echo Dicki's feelings. Never really ride on the drops, even on the road bike, but bullhorns give you a variety of different positions if you're after something for longer distances or honking up hills. May not be in vogue at the moment but I'm not really bothered about that. Love them!

  • also if you do get horns, I recommend a shorter stem to improvise with reach

  • i've got bullhorns with a bit of a drop. sometimes i think they look kind of ugly, but then when you're climbing a hill or want to do some comfortable skids, they're perfect. i'd personally go for ones that have a little drop rather than those that are straight, but as long as you get the angle right, they shouldn't look too bad.

  • yeah they're the ones i was lookin at. Cheers guys

  • Hello from Philadelphia PA USA. I just became a member of this site. I have a pic of what I think is the same bullhorns your looking for, there on my bike but I dont know what they are? LOL! Ill go down to the LBS and ask the name tomorrow (Monday) here are a pic of my bike and the bullhorns.

  • funny how before i got my first fix, the bike i dreamed about (and pretty much one i saw on the street that inspired me to get a fix, actually quite similar to the one above) was a blue one with a pair of bullhorns. i tried both nitto RB021's and chop n flop (which is essentially the same as the RB018 as shown on this thread in black and blue) i dont find them that great, considering i've rode my road bikes on the hoods most of the time before i got fixed.

drops are great in winter when the headwind is bitching. i ride brakeless/track drops and still find myself having more choice (albeit different ones) on positions compared to bullhorns, yet i still ride my road bike on the hoods.

my conclusion is you really have to try it out and decide for yourself.

here is a pic of mine:

  • dicki i am not a big fan of drops it must be said, and definately drops without hoods are a real pain to ride, drops have 2 positions that are comfortable in my opinion with bull horns you have way more options
most fashionmongers / fakengers have unwrapped chrome drops with no brake thus a lack of positions

Yeah, I'm on drops without brake hoods now and it takes some getting used to.
The brake hoods act to stop your hands sliding around the curve of the drop, so when they are gone it gets awkward.
Curvy track drops makes this 'falling forward' feeling worse.

  • get some riser's ;o)

  • ^with bar ends? :-P

  • Where can I find these online???

  • 31t®um get some riser's ;o)

I'll just take yours next time you're lying in a street somewhere. Just don't bang 'em up too bad :P

  • The comfiest bull horn type bars I use are cut down risers upside down with bar ends. Means you can cut them to the right width no problem.

  • essbee Where can I find these online???

Hubjub sell the standard alloy silver finish, maybe Will can get one in on a custom order?

Thats why I own this bike, I saw a guy riding downtown Philly on one so I picked this one up. the bullhorns are not the same ones the OP was looking for as the ones he wants have a slight drop. Im going to look into replacing these with drops as I find the above mentioned to be true.

  • Chop&flop is cheaper for pretty much the same shape as those nittos ;)

I find I end up gripping the bars near where the hood would be and having the curve run down in between my index and middle finger. I find the weight on my hands gives enough friction to stop me slipping. Cotton bar tape though which I do find has more grip than the cork stuff on the road bike.

  • handlebars are for gays.

  • Carrying a set into Richmond Park then tynan? :P

  • I have already a few pairs hidden around the place.

  • essbee Where can I find these online???

I want some for my folder but I can't find them no-where just for now

I'll keep my peepers open for you though

I didn't see you there tonight. Are you building up to something big, keeping me in suspense, what?
    You said you loved me?!?!?!?!
