Is the increasing popularity of fixed gear bikes sustainable?

dogsballs tommy, what's the BB and chainset like on that. looking for something vintage. yes, i know the perils of cotterpins, but with a 1950's bike there's no other way. :(

The Italian guy (rough sleeper?) who rides around a crazy two-bike catamaran thing and fixes peoples bikes has a good-ish williams crank and chainring from about that era. Worth asking if you see him.
