SJS Cycles double fixed hubs

  • does anyone use these? thinking about getting some for the new wheel build. just wondering what they are like? the front axle is hollow. Is that a good or bad thing?

  • They are cheap but probably fine if you treat them well. Make sure you buy a good quality cog and lockring to go with them and secure both on really tight. That will make a big difference.

  • if you search the forum for 'Formula' / 'system-ex' / 'IRO' / 'Ambrosio' hubs I believe SJS hubs are from the same factory with slightly different FLANGE machining.

    am I right?

  • Same as the on-one cheap track hub by the looks of things. I heard one or two things that made me go for the zenith/formula/IRO type instead, can't remember why though. Both axles look hollow, so I'd be tempted to steer clear just in case.

Try this, mines been great so far.

  • I have these and had no troubles so far. These are the two for £40 right? Got them built up on some black CXP33 rims.

They look like this in use. If you want close up shots I can do them at the weekend.

  • I have some too, they've been no trouble so far, and the axles are hollow but I wouldn't see that as a risk unless you're really heavy.

The finishing on one of the left handed threads was a little rough, so take care to clean them up with a small needle file if you have a problem.

I bought mine during the postal strike and SJS were spot on answering questions about delivery.

  • pics as promised. Bit more detail than the pics on the SJS site.

Got 135mm spacing on my frame so had to space the nuts out with some washers.
