  • sonicboom, depending on your budget I'd think harder about respraying the frame. I had a similar peugeot (after I wrote off my one like yours) and spent a long time cutting and filing off the brazeons and lever bosses etc, then resprayed it myself. It looked really nice after, but I found it took 5 cans of paint at £7.50 a can. It also chipped like a bastard once I took it up to uni. Since the frame itself probably was only worth ~£40, it wasn't a great investment and I've sinced upgraded to a really nice steel frame once the BB started going on the peugeot.

    I guess what I'm saying is take a look at the bike and assess how much you want to throw at it. It's tough with these things not to spend a fortune upgrading everything on them, but if I did it again I'd but the ~£50 for a paintjob in the kitty and buy a better frame out of nice steel a year down the line. You can still change the wheels/bars/saddle etc in the meantime if you get the itch :D
