I have a drill, but only one drill bit. We need bolts that are long enough to go through the width of the gas tubing and small enough to fit through the ski pole.Nuts that will fit the threading of the bolts. Probably best if we take one or two of the completed malletts to B+Q and double check them there.
Whats the plan though, makeing mallets tomo night then? or are we still playing polo/tricks?

i think we can do both??? tea, wine, mallet making - then hit the courts for a quick game????

i really want a ski pole

clefty bought a job lot of ebay, I'm sure she'd be prepared to trade one with ya, give her a whisper. Or pop round tomo for some mallett building, I'm sure the girls won't mind if ya join in for the mallett building. Think were doing it at roxy's as its round the corner (plus mike and german michael will be there, so you won't be the only guy)
but not sure exactly of the plan. Give me a ring later and we can figure something out.

is there a B&Q east side that we can check out tomorrow? failing that, if I can take a mallet for reference I have a B&Q near me and can get them. What size drill bit have you got Chandra, as that will obviously affect the size of the bolt needed as well..

there's a hardware shop behind Roxy's house too but it may close early

just use screws. use two: going through tubing and straight through the pole above each other. just don't have them too long, or you'll have a polo mallet/mace.

I'm off line right now so sorry for being incommunicado. I won't be home till 6 at the earliest tonight. Text me ti fill me in on the events (or just show up).
There are a couple of hardware shops around here. One right behind my flat, one under the arches near bethnal green station, and thirdly on the north side of beth grn rd, about a block maybe two east of tescos. That list is in order of best to worst but the last one has paint. they probably all close early.
Em, if you're off early today, could you be in charge of bolts?
The one place that for sure has them is on clerkenwell right across the street from the duke.
The mallets are 2 and 1/2 inches in diameter so a sawed off 3 inch bolt would be perfect. The bolts are quite skinny about 5 mm with 8mm heads. Nuts to match.... (snigger)

also, perhaps special boys should be welcome for mallet building? especially if they bring drills and beer? Clefty to deal with the sale of ski poles (though the girls need to go through them).

Agata took some with her last night, so I only have the little ones to transport to yours, I have sold 3 of the larger ones to some of the southside boys and also have one saved for Glow, the rest are at Roxy's now, and most of those are big ones.
