Shellac?? I know of that only from mold-making. It's a good release agent for casting with wax into modroc molds, or anything involving a plaster mold actually. I guess it works as a sealing agent for cork handlebar tape too?

It's making a comeback. Type shellac + Bar or handlebar in to flickr and it comes up with all sorts. Mega!

Smells like methylated spirits in a REALLY bad way though. The casting workshop at uni is permanently tainted by its smell.
