Sorry I'm on a roll now, but as I understood it the Witcomb Cycling Club has only recently been constituted/reconstituted, have they actually participated in any road or long distance events, let alone on a regular basis. If not, is this just a blatant lie to bolster Tony Malone's assertion that he's as active and one would infer knowledgeable cyclist. According to his Wikipedia entry he's a member of the Dulwich Paragon cycling club, can't help wondering if they've even heard of him. He also claims to regularly compete/participate in Audax rides. I'm relatively new to Audax so not very knowledgeable about it but as I understand it all Audax rides in the UK are organised under the auspices of Audax UK, who collate a list of all participants and publish a points list on their web site for all riders reflecting the number of rides they've completed. Astonishingly Tony Malone is completely absent from their 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 listings. Er, draw your own conclusions.
